Cystuddiau mawrion o bob rhyw Sy o fewn y byd 'rwi'n awr yn byw; Pan darffo un daw'r llall yn glau, Ac felly nghystudd i'n parhau. On mwy nâ'm holl gystuddiau o'r bron Yw colli llewyrch d'wyneb llon; Dy absennoldeb, Iesu cu 'N rhyw ddirfawr boen i'm henaid sy. Gronyn o'th hedd a'th garaid drud A ettyb fy nghystuddiau gyd; Ond rhyfedd iawn y rhinwedd sy Mewn lleied gradd o'r nefoedd fry. Nertha fi â'th hedd, portha fi â'th ras, Nes myn'd yn làn o'r byd i ma's; Boddloni wnaf, O Arglwydd glân I'm holl gystuddiau fawr a mân. Ni ofna'i'r gelyn gwycha ei wedd, Ni ofna'i angau, ni ofna'i'r bedd; Ni ofna'i ddim ag sy'n y byd Ond cael bod yn dy gôl o hyd.William Williams 1717-91

Great longings of every kind Are still within the world I am now living in; When one fades the other comes quickly, And thus in affliction I continue. But greater than all my afflictions altogether Is losing the radiance of thy cheerful face; Thy absence, dear Jesus Is a kind of enormous pain to my soul. A grain of thy peace and thy precious love Shall answer all my afflictions; But very wonderful is the merit there is In such a small degree of heaven above. Strengthen me with thy peace, feed my will thy grace, Until going up out of the world; I content myself I shall, O holy Lord, With all my afflictions great and small. I shall not fear the enemy of the most brilliant countenance, I shall not fear death, I shall not fear the grave; I shall fear nothing that is in the world If only I get to be in thy bosom always.tr. 2020 Richard B Gillion |
